The Centre for Palliative Care, Nigeria (CPCN) is a Not for profit sharing organization based in Ibadan, Oyo State registered in 2005 ( registration number CAC/IT/19744 ). The organization was set up by a group of volunteers who in 1996 were deeply concerned about the pain and suffering being experienced by cancer patients and their families in the absence of strong pain medications (opioid analgesics) for effective pain relief. Its mission is to provide comprehensive hospice and palliative care services to patients and their families as well as develop palliative care education and research in Nigeria

Become the foremost organization to champion the course of palliative care in Nigeria in order to improve the quality of life and reduce the suffering of people with serious and life-limiting illnesses.  read more

Our Services

The palliative care team co-manages patients with the primary consultants/doctors. Patients could be made to be admitted in hospitals within Ibadan.

PRESIDENT
Prof. Olaitan Soyannwo (MBBS, DA, FWACS, FICS, FWACS, FAS), is a Professor of Anesthesia and Consultant. She has served as the Head, Department of Anesthesia and Dean of Clinical sciences, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. Also pioneer head of Palliative Care Department, University College Hospital Ibadan.

Vice President
Prof. Adeniyi Adenipekun is a Consultant Radiation Oncologist with the University College Hospital and is the immediate past Chairman Medical Advisory Committee of the hospital. He is also an Asssociate Professor of Radiotherapy with the College of Medicine University of Ibadan. He is the Vice-Chairman of Center for Palliative Care . Nigeria.

Adegboye Oluwatoyin Mopelola (RN, RM, PGD , MSC ,DIPLOMA)

Treasurer
Adegboye Oluwatoyin Mopelola trained at the School of Nursing University College Hospital and Oyo state Midwifery School respectively. She started her Nursing career in September 1990 at the University College Hospital, Ibadan and she is currently a chief nursing officer in the hospital. She had Post Graduate Diploma and MSc in Social work between 2009 and 2012 at Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso respectively.
